Pixel art

Creating pixel art characters is an art form in itself and takes time and consideration. In turn, this project had a deadline and fixed budget, so we needed to move fast whilst being cost productive.

We found a way to create a character and production pipeline that had the feeling of pixel art without developing a sprite that would need hand animating. As with all projects, we still started with sketching out character designs...

Pixel dimensions

We played around with varying pixel sizes to see what would work best for clarity and design.

Storyboards and sequences.

Nailing the sequence at the storyboard stage was pretty vital to this piece as there were cause and effects dependent on if the user taps the screen or not, so we created each sequence in its own edit for Instagram and then put together a linear sequence in order to see the full picture, so to speak!
