For happy loo's

Our great friends at WARL agency asked us to create the new TV advertisement for the household cleaning brand Bloo.

This was a great project to work on, though it's not everyday you're asked to animate a talking toilet!

rough sketches of the loos expressions

Getting expression into a toilet.

We started looking at the cistern and lid for key points of expression. The loo's cistern worked like eyebrows and the rim of the seat animated much like a mouth. It was a balance between expression without characterising the loo too much. It needed to be realistic and not overtly stylistic as a character.

Renders of 3d foam for comparison

Look at that foam.

We did several foam tests to get the right consistency, shape and weighting right, as well as looking at how the foam would mix with the water when it flushed. Jeyes sent plenty of the Bloo blocks our way, so we could test. The studio toilet certainly had that lemony scent during production!

And that lemony scent!

We added lights, sparkle and a lovely lemon glow, as well as some 3d lemons to bring out that 'scent' within the animation.
